Printer models with an "e" are HP+ program printer models, and HP selling HP+ printer models at a lower price with 6 months of instant ink. The firmware built into the HP+ printer models does not accept compatible cartridge chips (currently HP+ printer models can only use OEM ink cartridges).

Compatible cartridge chip manufacturers are developing compatible chips for HP+ printer models. We will announce a compatible chip cartridge as soon as it becomes available.
